(Photo by Nujaree Raekrun)The Airports Department is seeking 24 billion baht in the next fiscal year to expand three airports in the South and one in the Northeast. If funding is approved by the cabinet construction could start in December, with planned completion in 2021. Funding of 1.9 billion baht was approved in October 2015. It will also expand Mae Sot airport to accommodate larger aircraft in 2020.
